West Point is situated along the eastern shoreline of the Great Salt Lake, in Davis County, about 30 minutes north of Salt Lake City. It is a community of about 9,800 people, first settled in 1867, and originally known as South Hooper. Clinton and Hooper are to the north, Clearfield to the east, and Syracuse to the south.
This community has much to offer residents, including three beautiful parks: Bingham Memorial, East, and Loy F. Blake. At these city-maintained parks, you will find boweries, baseball diamonds, playgrounds, sand volleyball courts, walking paths, fire pits, soccer fields, football fields, tennis courts, and basketball courts. The city hosts a monthly senior lunch activity, an annual “Take Pride in West Point” community service day, a Christmas Lighting Ceremony at City Hall, a Veteran’s Day Program, a Fourth of July celebration, and much more. Additionally, the city boasts an active youth council that provides young men and women an opportunity to learn about government and participate in service projects and activities.
There are a variety of recreational opportunities around West Point, including the
Union Station Museum in Ogden,
Willard Bay State Park, and
Antelope Island State Park.
Salt Lake International Airport is less than an hour away, and higher education can be pursued at Weber State University in Ogden, Salt Lake Community College, and the University of Utah, in Salt Lake City.
